Relay gan Leila Navabi

Cymraeg yn dod yn fuan

Leila Navabi orginally brought Relay to life as a scratch performance during our 2024 The City Socials events, which look to nurture new work being created by theatre makers in and around Cardiff. The events bring together people from across the creative community to discuss and connect with the artist and each other.

Following its well-received initial presentation, TEAM have continued to support the development of Leila's show, with it now being developed as a full performance that will preview in Cardiff at Sherman Theatre and Theatre503, before a month long run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Our ethos at TEAM is centred around the idea of collaboration and community, and we are excited to be producing a show packed with heart and humour, that uplifts an under-represented story through Leila's unique storytelling.

Relay, the punk-rock musical tells the story of choosing family and overcoming the odds. With sharp wit and tender sincerity, Leila dives into the true story of making a baby at home with her partner, a best mate as the sperm donor, and, naturally, his boyfriend cheering from the sidelines. Featuring six brand new original songs, Navabi unpacks love, ambition, and the chaos of building a family on their own terms. Equal parts absurd and profound, Relay is proof that family is not just what you make it, but how.
